FAQ

AVAILABILITY OF KITTENS
We usually have kitten available between March and September. Only rarely we have litters born during Fall month and very few kittens are available between October and March.

HOW ARE OUR KITTENS RAISED?
Cattery Niva is not a large commercial cattery. We follow Mother Nature and our cats live outdoor, in a protected habitat that fits well the needs of this magnificent breed. Litter are born in a separate garden house and will romp in their own garden. At 2 months they are given their first set of vaccinations but we wait 2 to 4 more weeks for making them ready for their new homes. Our way of breeding does privilege the quality but we limit the number of kitten raised during the year.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PET, SHOW AND BREED QUALITY KITTEN?
All cats of our cattery do comply the WCF (World Cat Federation) Siberian Breed Standard but kittens that do not meet the Standard closely enough to warrant their use in a breeding program or their presentation at a Cat Show are considered “Pet Quality”. Pets are sold without breeding rights but many of our Show and Breeder kitten are sold as Pet since we would rather see them in loving homes.

IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG WITH A PET QUALITY SIBERIAN?
Reasons for evaluating a kitten as pet quality are related to the breed standard, but are quite different from genetic defects.
Genetic defects are genetic malformations or disease which affect health and temperament. There are no known genetic defects in the Siberian breed at this time.

WHAT VACCINATION HAS A KITTEN RECEIVED?
When our kittens go home, all of them have been given the recommended primary vaccines. When you are ready to pickup your cat, we will discuss which shots are remaining and you will be responsible for these.

IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE IN PERSONALITIES OF MALES OR FEMALES?
No, there is no difference in personalities of cats. How the kittens are raised determines how affectionate they are.
There is no difference in price for male versus female.

WHAT CONTRACT RESTRICTIONS DO YOU HAVE?
By adopting a pet quality kitten, the new Owner accepts the following conditions:

  1. the kitten will be examined annually by a veterinarian and receive annual vaccinations, dental cleanings and all other recommended treatment
  2. the kitten will not be allowed to reproduce and will be neutered or spayed at a safe age
  3. the kitten will not be declawed
  4. the kitten will not be given inoculations which interfere with or suppress its immune system
  5. the new Owner will contact Cattery Niva first in the event, at any time during cat’s life, that he will be unable to keep the cat. We will help you find a new home fort your cat

WILL YOU DELIVERY A KITTEN? WILL YOU SHIP IT? HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Yes, we will delivery or ship kittens, but you should realize that the relevant costs are additional and will add to the overall cost of your kitten. These costs are your responsibility. We have estimated costs for you as follows but the exact quotation will be given at the time of transport.

Air Travel Priority Parcel (Continental Europe) € 90.00 - € 250.00 plus travel to Airport
Air Travel Priority Parcel (UK) € 350.00 - € 400.00 plus travel to Airport
Delivery (Air Travel) at the cost (flight + expenses)
Delivery (by car) at the cost (0,45 €/Km + expenses)

The price range for air travel depends on the destination. Priority Parcel Service is a service which ensures a greater degree of safety for travelling pets. Your cat is one of the last items loaded onto the plane, and one of the first taken off upon arrival. It is hand carried from the office onto and off the plane.
All shipping expenses including the purchase price of the kitten must be paid and a signed sales contract, agreeing to our conditions of sales, must be received before the kitten is shipped or we deliver it to you.

HOW DO I RESERVE A KITTEN?
As soon as a kitten is old enough for us to evaluate the kitten becomes available for sale to the next person on our reserved waiting list.
The best way to reserve a kitten from us is to call and have a personal discussion about your interest for Siberians. At that time we also answer any question you might have. If we reach a “meeting of the minds”, will be pleased to reserve a kitten for you with a deposit.
